Travel Tips

- Passport: Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates. Your passport should NOT expire before September 2027.

- New or Renewed Passport: If you need a new passport or renewal, we recommend applying by September or October 2026 to allow plenty of processing time.

- Travel Visa: Apply for your visa approximately 4–8 weeks before the trip.

- Flights: We recommend purchasing airfare 3–5 months before the trip for the best availability and pricing.

- Airport: Da Nang International Airport (DAD)

- Money: Cash is king! We recommend exchanging USD for VND through your local bank before traveling, as this typically provides the best exchange rate. Try to do this at least 4 weeks before departure.

- Transportation: Download the Grab app before your trip for easy ride-hailing and food delivery.

- Recommended Documents: While not required, it's a good idea to bring paper copies of your passport, flight and hotel itineraries, and any transportation vouchers.

- (Optional) STEP Registration: Register your trip through the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program to let the nearest U.S. Embassy know you'll be traveling abroad. This free service allows the U.S. Embassy to contact you in the event of an emergency and provides helpful travel updates while you're abroad. Visit: https://mytravel.state.gov/s/step
